JOSÉ LUIS RAMÍREZ LUENGO

He holds a PhD in Hispanic Philology from the University of Deusto (Spain), and currently teaches and researches at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). He has also researched and taught at the University of Jaén, the University of Alcalá (Spain) and the Autonomous University of Querétaro (Mexico), as well as being a guest lecturer at various higher education institutions in Europe and Latin America.

His main field of research is the history of the Spanish language in modern times, both in Spain and in America, as well as the linguistic contact of Spanish with Portuguese from a historical point of view and the configuration of modern orthography; on these subjects he has published more than a hundred works and reviews in scientific journals, including his Breve Historia del Español de América (Madrid: Arco Libros, 2007) or Una descripción del español de mediados del siglo XVIII. Edición y estudio de las cartas de M. Martierena del Barranco (1757-1763) (Lugo: Axac, 2013) or Textos para la historia del español, XI. Honduras y El Salvador (Alcalá de Henares: Universidad de Alcalá, 2017).
